His Holiness arrives in Kathmandu

Sand mandala makingHis Holiness Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang Rinpoche arrived at Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 25. At the airport, His Holiness was received with hearty welcome by His Eminence Tritsab Rinpoche and Lapchi Dorzin Dondrup Palden and many other guests and Drikung followers.

His Holiness at Rinchenling MonasteryMore than 30 vehicles lined up to escort His Holiness and his entourage to the newly built Drikung Rinchenling Monastey at Nayapati. Special security guards and police were put on the way to control the crowded traffic and to make a smooth thoroughfare for all the way from airport to the monastery. Hundreds of local people wearing their traditional costumes and holding scarves were eagerly waiting for His Holiness with joy and happiness. When the convoy reached the Rinchenling Monastery a special Tibetan tea and special sweet rice was served for all people, and an auspicious mandala offering was being made to His Holiness for gracefully accepting and coming to the monastery for the inauguration and bestowing empowerments and teachings.

On the following day, the Lama Chöpa Puja was held at the new monastery. The Office of His Holiness Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang had made an offering to all monks of the monastery.

Monks creating the sand mandalaOn October 27, the Earth Puja was performed in order to prepare for the mandala for the Chakrasamvara Drubchen (sgrub chen, great accomplishment practice) and monks started creating a sand mandala infront of the main shrine of the New Temple.

Upon the completion of the sand mandala on October 29, the Chakrasamvara Drubchen began. There are almost three hundreds monks who attend the Drubchen.
